Robert Bruininks

Robert H. Bruininks was appointed the 15th president of the University of Minnesota on November 8, 2002. He went to Vanderbilt University for his master’s and Ph.D. in education and arrived at the University of Minnesota in 1968 as an assistant professor of education psychology. He was chair of the Department of Educational Psychology, from 1978 to 1985 and served as dean of the College of Education and Human Development from 1991 to 1997. In 1985, Bruininks established the interdisciplinary Institute on Community Integration (ICI), which focuses on research, training, and information sharing, to improve policies and practices for children, youth and adults with disabilities.
