Robert Schalock

Robert L. Schalock was prior to his retirement Professor and Chair of the Department of Psychology at Hastings College, Nebraska, USA. He is currently Professor Emeritus from Hastings College. He is also Adjunct Professor at the University of Kansas (Life Span Institute and the Beach Center on Disability), University of Salamanca (Spain): Chongquing Normal University (Mainland China), and University of Gent (Belgium). He is also President of Bob Schalock and Associates-Planning and Evaluation.

Dr. Schalock has participated in the Editorial Boards of a number of different journals, including the American Journal on Mental Retardation (now American Journal on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), Jr. of Policy & Practice in Intellectual Disabilities, Evaluation and Program Planning, Mental Retardation (now Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities), and Jr. of Intellectual Disability Research.

Bob has been Member and Chair of the Board of numerous associations and is a former President of the American Association on Mental Retardation. He is a member of a number of Committees of the American Association on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (formerly American Association on Mental Retardation): Terminology and Classification (Chair), Supports Intensity Scale, Children’s Supports Intensity Scale, and Diagnostic Adaptive Behavior Scale. Dr. Schalock has published numerous books and articles on personal and program outcomes, the supports paradigm, adaptive behavior, clinical judgment, and quality of life. He also travels across the world consulting on human service issues.
